A day after a devastating fire killed 17 people, including eight children, in the Gulzar House area near Charminar, BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) held the Telangana government accountable, citing gross negligence.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of a three-storey building housing a jewellery shop, and quickly spread. KTR, after visiting the victims’ families, stated that “lives could have been saved” if better emergency response systems were in place.
He urged the government to pay ₹25 lakh compensation to the family of each deceased and called for this tragedy to be a wake-up call for improving emergency infrastructure and readiness across the state.
